Gino and the Lone Gunmen

Gino & the Lone Gunmen [2010]
Self released
10 songs

I believe this is Gino’s debut album but you probably know him as the Guana batz guitar player in the USA. He also plays with the Hayriders and the Stilettos . The Lone Gunmen (a Buckaroo Banzai reference?) consist of Johnny Bowler (Get Smart, Guana Batz) on bass and drummer Hal Smith (Carl Sonny leyland, Hal’s Angels, Cash kings) who proves here that he’s more than able to rock.
Gino is a pretty decent singer but his talent lays in the guitar. Pretty little Kitty is a good rockabilly number. Rattled is a cover of theTravelling Willburies and has a strong country flair. Both Rockabye Baby and North park Swing are rockabilly swing featuring a horn section. Back to classic rockabilly with I need A Drink (with drum solo from Smith). Mean Woman Blues is the second cover and the band gives a reved up version of this classic. They add a dose of jazz in their rockabilly for Aint Got Nuthin, a ballad with just Gino backed by in Gretsch. Bet that Brian Setzer would like this. Still in the Setzer / Stray Cats connection Rockabilly Girl evokes the Gonna Ball period of the band and features good lyrics too.

If ou dig modern Rockabilly with Setzer influences this one is for you.
