Sweet Crude Records SCR-001

Though it's not a proper Cow Island release, bossman WJ Hunt found it good enough to help its distribution, so expect quality. The band is made of several well known musicians, including former members of the Dalhart Imperials, Honky Tonk Hangover as well as touring members of Wayne Hancock's band. That's another reason to put the cd in the player.
The least that you can say is that with three songwriters and three lead singers this is a mighty rich combination and another living proof that people still knows how to play Country Music.
There's a good dose of Honky Tonk in the late 50's/early 60's tradition, a bit of Hank Williams, a dash of Bakersfield like the Derailers could do, and modern talking blues too. Western swingers will like Big As Texas with pounding bass, steel and fiddle. You'll also find some tasty rockabilly on the Louvin Brothers' Cash On The Barrelhead and Melvin Endsley/Marty Robbins' Knee Deep In The Blues. They also cover Don Gibson's Don't Tell Me Your Trouble.
Both versatile and talented, they deserve their place next to The Dixons, Arty Hill and The Starline Rhythm Boys in your collection.
